1、The second period Technical Transformation Project of
Jiulongpo Port Chongqing Gangjiu
Co.,Ltd. Jiulongpo Branch located at the west part of Chongqing
City, it's the biggest hub of land and water communications in the
upper reaches of Yangtze River and a key gateway to the coastal
areas, it has become one of the most important ports for domestic
and foreign trade in Southwest of China. After the first period of
technical transformation, the handling capacity of the port has run
up to 3.35 million tons. But because Jiulongpo Port has no special
container quays, containers have to pass through the temporary bulk
quay, and the cost is too high, operation sequence is too
complex. With the deepening of the reform and opening to the
outside world, and the enforcement of the 9th Five-year Plan, it
brings new opportunities and rejects vigor to the economy
development of West China, and it also makes greater demands on the
port. To speed up the development of Chongqing's economy, and to put
an end to the backwardness of the container transportation in the
upper reaches of Yangtze River, and to make full use of the
sound geographic vantage and building conditions,
Chongqing Gangjiu Co.,Ltd. has mapped out a programme for the second
period technical transformation of Jiulongpo Port. The project
would be built at the lower reaches of the coaling quay (which had
been finished at the first period). It would build a container quay
with its annual handling capacity of 50 thousand TEUs, and a bulk
quay with its annual handling capacity of 30 thousand tons. After
the technical transformation, it would play an active role in the
perfection of the infrastructures, and the improvement of its
freight handling capacity. At the same time, it would play a
remarkable role in the economy prosperity of Chongqing municipality
and other cities around. The fixed
assets investment of the project is 191.3 million RMB yuan, and
needs circulating fund 25 million RMB yuan, it would all be
collected through fund raising. When the project finished, the
income of the company would account for 40.38 million RMB yuan, and
the after-tax-profit would attain 18 million RMB yuan, The
investment payback time would be among 8 years. The project has been
approved by the Ministry of Communication through the NO.[1997]319
File. 2、The Bulk Quay Rebuilding
Project The bulk Quay In
Jiulongpo Branch of Chongqing Gangjiu Co.,Ltd. possesses the largest
and longest operation line in the upper reaches of Yangtze river,
the ultimate elevating capacity is 180 tons, it had
consecutively transported large set of equipments for various
chemical factories. In keeping with the construction of the
Three Gorges Project and the economy development of Southwest
China, it makes greater demands on the transportation of heavy
and oversize cargos. Especially, because of the Three Gorges
Project, it need to safely transport 26 sets of 350-ton large
transformers of Chongqing Transformer Co.,Ltd. to the worksite in
time. To ensure the project go on without a hitch, the company drew
up a plan to rebuild the former bulk quay in Jiulongpo Branch.
According to the requirements, the heavy-cargo operation line
would be rebuilt into a large one with its handling capacity amount
to 400 tons. At present, the handling capacity of the ports in the
upper reaches of Yangtze River is too weak, and many heavy cargos
have to been transported by disassembling them into small ones, the
efficiency is too low and the cost is too high. The rebuilding
of the bulk quay would speed up the transportation and reduce
the cost. It would also promote the economy development of this
area, and create a new point of profit
growth. The fixed assets investment of
the project is 54 million RMB yuan, and needs circulating fund 12
million RMB yuan, it plans to collect fund through issuing stocks.
When the project finished, the income of the company would account
for 18 million RMB yuan, and the after-tax-profit would attain 8
million RMB yuan, The investment payback time would be among 8
years. The project has been approved by Chongqing Planning
Commission through the [1998]192 File.
